Today we’re all heart eyes over Steph and Scott’s beautiful outdoor Spring wedding in Woodmancote, West Sussex.
The rolling Sussex countryside, lake-side tipis and spring sunshine make for a perfect setting for this rustic and romantic wedding day.
We’re handing over to beautiful bride Steph for all the goss on her and Scott’s gorgeous Sussex wedding:
We chose to get married in Sussex because we’ve always lived in Sussex and love the countryside
I had my hen do in Lisbon (a 3 day break) and Brighton (MAC make up tutorials and dinner/drinks) and Scott had his stag do in Brighton – a night out (plus paint balling in Holmbush and mud karting Staplefield).
Scott proposed to me on the day we got the keys to the first house we bought, I had no idea and he proposed as we stepped in to the house. I was shocked and kept asking if he was sure!
We had our wedding ceremony by a lake and we did handfasting in our humanist wedding ceremony (we got married at a town hall 2 weeks before).
We stayed on the land that night in a shepherds hut hired through the land-owners
Oh, and I wore silver converse trainers.
My tips for other brides and grooms-to-be would be to get married outside! Make the most of the gorgeous countryside! Also to search on Gumtree and local ads for DIY and decorations.
Our Day Our Way
My favourite part of the wedding planning was knowing that no one else will have the exact same day as us, as we planned everything, all the suppliers were separately found and that way we were in more control of how our day would be individual to us.
The hardest part of wedding planning was organising everyone but I ended up having a fantastic wedding planner who stepped in from 5/6 weeks before the day.
We DIY’d pretty much everything for our wedding!
We bought all the decorations and put them up and around ourselves! We made road signs and painted them, we made a wooden timetable from a wooden pallet, I bought string and small glass milk bottles for table decorations and we used an apple crate for our wedding gifts.
We bought bunting, lanterns and glass candle holders for the trees with battery candles. We tied white string around the trees, bought blankets from Ikea, made our cake stand from a cut piece of wood and decorated the ceremony stage with bought netting and gypsophilia (I bulk bought all the gypsophilia online from Triangle Nursery).
We also made our own table plans, and place names.
If we could do it all again we would…?
