If you’re thinking of having a destination wedding in Cornwall then this wedding at the Old Sawmills in Fowey is a must-see! There’s so much that makes us smile about Katie and Ross’ wild Cornish wedding! From the woodland ceremony to the boho second-hand wedding dress and just how happy and in love this lovely pair look with their gorgeous baby in arms too.
But enough swooning from us, here’s beautiful bride Katie from Sussex (who had just had a baby, a few months before the wedding) to share her inspiration, seriously romantic engagement AND why she let Ross plan the whole day!
We went for a walk along the beach that we live on (Shoreham-by-Sea in Sussex). Ross was over by the rocks and called me over cause he could see something floating in the water. It was a message in a bottle. It was tricky to get but managed to reach it. He let me open it, and inside was an old burnt piece of paper with the words – ‘will you marry me?’ He was then on one knee, with a ring!
Stag & hen do’s
My hen do was a tricky one, as we had a baby, which I was still breastfeeding so we had a small gathering in the garden. For the stag, the boys had dinner on the beach and went out in town, there is still plans to go on a surf trip!
Why we chose a Cornish wedding…
We love Cornwall, it was a dream of ours to get married in the woods and by water.
The personal touches
Ross’ sister-in-law sang me up the aisle, whilst Ross’ band member sang during the ceremony. The other ushers sang while we all walked back through the woods down to the Old Mill for the reception. We also brought a tent from India which was handmade and designed for us!
Our wedding favours were personalised torches, engraved with a symbol of a tree and said ‘where there is love there is light’ with our initials and wedding date.
My top tip for other brides (and grooms) to-be are…
Just chill, don’t stress!
The thing I enjoyed most about wedding planning was…
Ross doing most of it! I was pregnant!
My least favourite part of wedding planning was…
Working out how to breastfeed in a dress!
If we could do it all again we would…
Wish for a sunnier day, but keep everything the same!
How beautiful was this relaxed, woodland wedding? We’re now totally craving a trip to Cornwall. Also kudos to this lovely couple for managing to plan and have this amazing destination wedding in Cornwall with a young and very beautiful babe in arms.
Our newlyweds may have wished the sun would have shone on their rustic woodland wedding, but we think the atmospheric weather works hands-in-hand with their gorgeous, lush, green surroundings – they still managed to get married outside too!
A big thank you to Katie and Ross for chatting to us about your amazing wedding; it was a stunner all right! Even bigger thanks goes to the fabulous Zara Price (the couple’s photographer) for sharing these seriously swoon-worthy snaps with us!
